LIM Team Wins 2nd Place in Sustainable Fashion Pitch Competition
November 4, 2020
A team of four students from LIM College won second place in the ESRAP (Educators for Socially Responsible Apparel Practices) 2021 Student Merchandising Poster Competition.
Students in this annual contest are challenged to invoke an entrepreneurial mindset in developing a business plan for a socially responsible fashion retailer, empowering them to become agents of change. They must incorporate "triple bottom line" practices—social, environmental, and financial—in doing so.
This year's directive to students was to sculpt their business pitch to be specific and relevant to a post-COVID world.
LIM's team consisted of Emma Brophy, Vivian Hua, Sophia Lorenzetti, and Natalie Stylianou, whose brand, SVEN COLLECTIVE, focused on ethically produced apparel and fitness accessories.
"We're so proud of the deep thinking that Emma, Vivian, Sophia, and Natalie included in their vision for SVEN COLLECTIVE," said Fashion Merchandising professor Andrea Kennedy, one of the LIM faculty members who advised students on this project. "ESRAP is a challenging competition judged by professionals at Timberland and VF Corporation. This accomplishment is particularly exciting because these four students were in our 7.5-week online course and had to work in double-time on this project."
