Mayor of New York City Proclaims September 25, 2014 'LIM College Day'

Elected officials from throughout New York City gathered at LIM College on September 30 to help the College celebrate its 75th Anniversary. At a reception attended by faculty, staff, alumni, Board members, and higher education leaders, Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney, Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer, and New York City District 5 Council Member Ben Kallos spoke about the important contributions LIM College has made to New York City by educating students for successful careers in the business of fashion for the past three quarters of a century.

Congresswoman Maloney (above, at left) presented a Congressional Extension of Remarks to LIM College President Elizabeth S. Marcuse (above, at right) stating that, "Since its founding, LIM College has been an educational leader in the fashion industry. I am proud to celebrate this historic milestone and recognize LIM College's significant influence in the world of fashion and business."

Doug Jakubowski (Class of 1983), Chief Merchandising Officer for the Perry Ellis Division of Perry Ellis International and a member of the LIM College Fashion Industry Advisory Board, also spoke about the impact LIM has had on his life and career.

William Borner, the Chairman of LIM College's Board of Directors, read a portion of a proclamation from New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio that said, in part, "..my administration is ensuring that our city’s fashion industry continues to thrive. I extend my gratitude to LIM College for being a valuable partner in this effort." The Mayor also proclaimed September 25, 2014 as "LIM College Day" in New York City.
