Where did your college experience begin? And what eventually led you to LIM?
While in high school, it was clear to me that I would go to FIT. But after taking courses there, I realized it wasn’t for me. It just didn’t feel like home. I researched fashion business schools that were more tailored to what I needed, and LIM stood out. When I came here, I truly fell in love.
What do you like most about the LIM experience?
It’s homey, the classes are small, and it’s a very personal experience. Being at a school in Manhattan is very important to me. I want to grow from the everyday challenges of urban living. There are also always fashion opportunities here.
How has LIM helped provide a smooth transition as a transfer student?
LIM organizes events where other transfers, who might share the same feelings of apprehension, get to meet each other and connect. It reminds you you’re definitely not alone in the transfer experience.
What is one of your favorite classes?
In my Social Media and Mobile Marketing class, I’ve definitely learned a lot that I can utilize in my career. Basically, the class teaches you how companies can use social media as an asset and prevent it from being a liability. Social media is not all glitz and glamor; it’s about the strategies that are helpful in managing a company’s or brand’s image.
Has being an LIM student helped you get any jobs?
The College helped me get a part-time job at Michael Kors’ 5th Avenue location, the company’s global flagship store. I uploaded my resume and applied through LIM’s job-search site for students and alumni, and received a call within a week. I met a lot of fantastic people there. They loved that I was from LIM College because I was eager and passionate about fashion.
What advice would you give to a student considering coming to LIM?
This city is amazing. But it can be expensive! Be reserved with your money, and resist the urge to go “ballin out” right away.
