Visual Merchandising Class Goes “Back Through the Decades”

Students in Professor Grailing King’s Visual Merchandising: History, Theory and Practice class are taking a trip back through time.

On Thursday, November 3, the class will unveil “Back Through the Decades” a new visual installation at Maxwell Hall. Working in small groups, the 17 Visual Merchandising majors have created a series of visual vignettes representing the 1900’s through 1980’s.

“The students’ work reflects not only what was happening in fashion during each decade, but also incorporates what was taking place culturally and politically,” says Professor King.

The “Back Through the Decades” opening event will be held in Maxwell Hall (216 East 45th St.) from 6-9 pm. LIM students, faculty, staff, alumni, families, and industry professionals are invited to attend.
