My Top 3 Thrift Sellers in NYC

With the rise in interest for consumers to shop more sustainably, Millennials and Gen Zers are gravitating towards shopping secondhand. Luckily, there are plenty of thrift stores and fun vintage shops in NYC.

Thrifting is considered popular and trendy, as seen on TikTok and Instagram. Buying from vintage stores and thrift stores gives shoppers more opportunity to find unique pieces for a cheap price. Thrifting is also a fun experience because shoppers don't know what they'll find and often stumble upon hidden gems!

L-Train Vintage

There are eight L-Train Vintage shops throughout Brooklyn and Manhattan. L-Train Vintage has an amazing denim department, and their stores restock at least three times a week. They offer cheap prices, even for a thrift chain, and you will almost certainly walk out of there with something. I have found a lot of jean jackets, skirts, and graphic t-shirts from L-Train Vintage.

Beacon’s Closet

“Ask any in-the-know new yorker where you might score the best vintage in the city, and you’ll likely get this answer: beacon’s closet.”

At Beacon’s Closet, you can buy, sell, and trade items. Beacon's Closet tends to have higher prices, because they closely pay attention to the brands they want to stock, and the products are typically in great condition. For example, I have found really great deals on Nordstrom dresses, Zara blouses, and Free People pieces. They sell online and have four locations in Manhattan and Brooklyn.

Housing Works

Housing Works is a nonprofit, fighting AIDS and homelessness. They have plenty of locations throughout Manhattan in uptown and downtown, as well as Brooklyn. What I love about Housing Works is their furniture and home section. I have found very cool art décor, mugs, shoes, and great sweaters from Housing Works. Their prices are affordable, and they sell a lot of products in their stores.
