Samantha Scopo gets invaluable hands-on experience at Grottini Retail Environments

LIM College has a time-honored tradition of partnering with leading companies throughout all sectors of the fashion and retail industries to provide students with life-changing, real-world work experiences. In just the latest example of this, junior Samantha Scopo is now doing a month-long Visual Merchandising internship at Grottini Retail Environments in Porto Recanati, Italy.

Samantha arrived in Italy at the beginning of July to begin her immersion into Italian life and Grottini's world. Working closely with upper management and the company’s lead designer, Samantha is now involved with many retail design projects. She’s learning a great deal and working hard, but also has time on the weekends to relax at the beach on the Adriatic Coast or make a quick trip to Rome.

Grottini provides strategy, research, branding, design, architecture, manufacturing and interactive installations for retail spaces. The company is committed to supporting education and believes that internships are an important way to bridge academic theory and hands-on practice. Dr. Nicola Evoli, Grottini’s CIO, International Sales-Strategy recently joined LIM College’s Fashion Industry Advisory Board.

According to a story posted on Grottini’s website, “We have found Samantha to already shine as a promising young professional in visual merchandising. Our team is very pleased to host Samantha, in her professional pursuits as well as making her feel welcome, at home, and part of our big team 'family'.”

Samantha’s experience is all expenses-paid, and she is also receiving a weekly stipend. In a video posted on Grottini’s site she says, “I’d like to thank Grottini Retail Environments for an experience that I’ll remember all of my life and that will help me throughout my career.”
