Intro Title
Mia Cordio, Megan Marr, Lola Gerstner, Erika Parker, and Marcel Smith reached the penultimate round in the National Retail Federation (NRF) Foundation’s Next Generation Scholarship program.

Erika, Marcel, Megan, Mia, and Lola are among a group of just 10 student-semifinalists to make it to this stage of the competition, narrowed from a large pool of applicants from NRF University member schools nationwide. LIM College had the highest number of semifinalists of any participating school.

Students advanced to the top 10 by completing case study exercises in collaboration with supercenter chain Meijer and participating in interviews with retailers.

Each student will be awarded a $1,000 travel stipend to attend the NRF Foundation Student Program and Foundation Honors event, taking place in New York City in January 2022.

The next round of competition involves interviews with NRF Executives, with the four students who make it into the finals set to each receive $10,000 scholarships. The top recipient for this year's Next Generation Scholarship will win a $25,000 grand prize.

"I am so excited for LIM’s five students who have made it to the interview stage of the National Retail Federation Foundation’s Next Generation Scholarship competition," said Professor Marla Greene, Advisor for the College’s NRF Student Association chapter.

"The hard work and dedication all of them put in over the summer to complete the case study for a Meijer brand product launch really paid off. Their futures in retail look bright!"
