Program: Fashion Marketing

Home city: Mumbai, India

Having held various roles in marketing and project management in her home city of Mumbai, Unnati sought a master's program that would impart the skills she needed to lead marketing initiatives. She now handles strategic pre-launch planning for Lonnue, a new lifestyle brand.

What made you choose LIM as the next step in your education?

LIM was one of the only colleges I found that offers specialized fashion marketing courses and a Fashion Marketing master's program. My LinkedIn research connected me with recent LIM graduates who made me very sure that this school was the best choice for me. And of course, I couldn't wait to make New York City my campus!

What was the application process like?

The requirements and materials needed were very clear. My Admissions Counselor was constantly in touch with me during the process to answer questions and review documents. As an international student, this all can be a bit tough, but LIM's International Admissions team is extremely supportive.

What did you like best about your degree program?

The Fashion Marketing MPS program is designed for people who need to learn about the industry; but, as somebody who was already familiar with the space, I was surprised there was still so much more to learn! As a masters program, it was rigorous. The professors assigned projects that could easily pop up in daily work life, really preparing us for a professional career.

How does LIM provide a welcoming environment for international students?

LIM's students come from around the world, and this school really celebrates that. Cultural festivals are celebrated with a lot of love. Professors are accommodating of language limitations, and you get time to adapt to the American academic system.

Please tell us about your role at Lonnue. What does your work entail?

Lonnue is a lifestyle brand that is launching soon! My role is across multiple functions, because we're a small team—I have been tasked with heading our marketing, from content planning, decision making, execution, brand strategy, budgets, and everything else.

How did your LIM experience prepare you for what you're doing now?

The practical learning I experienced at LIM has definitely been put to use at work. At LIM, professors don’t just teach from textbooks; assignments and final submissions are structured to help you learn to research and organize information properly, and this is something that you have to do every day as a professional. You’re trained to find solutions. Whether it's a new service or brand collaboration, or using a new SEO platform or a social media calendar, this program equips you with all the tools you need to start as a marketer.
