2021 Commencement Honoree

Emme will deliver the keynote address and receive the College’s Distinguished Achievement Award at our 82nd Commencement exercises, which will be streamed live online on May 20, 2021 at 7 p.m. She will also receive an honorary Doctor of Commercial Science degree at the virtual ceremony.

Known for over two decades as an iconic American supermodel, Emme is a social reformer, media personality and spokesperson, author, and creative director.

Next Steps

To be able to graduate, all students must complete a Graduation Audit by April 1, 2021. Graduation Audit applications are sent to the LIM College email account of eligible* students by the Office of the Registrar. January 2021 grads will receive their Graduation Audit applications in Fall 2020. May and August 2021 grads will receive their Graduation Audit applications in Spring 2021.

  • Undergraduate students: Schedule an appointment with your Academic Advisor to determine your eligibility to graduate.
  • Graduate students: Contact the Graduate Studies Department to determine your eligibility to graduate.
  • Online students: Contact your Online Advisor to determine your eligibility to graduate.

As a key part of our virtual celebration LIM will provide every graduate with a personal graduation profile page that will be shown on screen during the ceremony. This profile can be customized with a photo, personal message, and your name read aloud -- just as it would be during an in-person ceremony. Your profile will also be available for you to share on social media!


Upload your graduation photo, message, and the pronunciation of your name by April 23, 2021 via the direct link in the email you received from Marching Order.

We will provide FREE caps and gowns for all Class of 2021 graduates. You must place your order online by April 19, 2021. (choose "Cap & Gown" from the menu at the top of the page, then GRADUATION REGALIA when ordering).

Your cap and gown (and hood, if applicable) will be shipped directly to you. You are responsible for payment for the shipping, handling and any additional items you add to your shopping cart (graduation announcements, international stoles, etc.)

2021 Graduates can schedule in studio services (NYC location) for Graduation Portraits by visiting www.thorntonstudio.com. Go to Schedule Appointment. Enter Code: studio. The cost is $15.

  • Summa Cum Laude: 3.85 and higher cumulative GPA

  • Magna Cum Laude: 3.70 to 3.84 cumulative GPA

  • Cum Laude: 3.50 to 3.69 cumulative GPA


(Only students who have submitted a completed Application for Graduation by the due date will be eligible for Commencement awards. Final determination of honors is only available after a student's last semester final grades have been certified. Any student who has been involved in an academic dishonesty incident is not eligible for any Commencement honor or award.)

LIM College’s Mu Rho Chapter of the Delta Mu Delta International Business Honor Society inducts students pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration degree who demonstrate academic excellence with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher and are in the top 20 percent of their class. Members of Delta Mu Delta wear a purple and gold cord at Commencement.

LIM College’s Kappa Zeta Chapter of the Alpha Beta Kappa Honor Society inducts students pursuing associate, bachelor’s and master’s degrees who demonstrate academic excellence. To be inducted, one must be in the top 20 percent of their class with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher for undergraduate students and a cumulative GPA ≥ 3.8 for graduate students. Members of Alpha Beta Kappa wear a red and navy blue cord at Commencement.
