Through the Lens of an LIM Student at the Law Roach x What Goes Around Comes Around NYFW Party 

When I first arrived at the What Goes Around Comes Around store, I met up with my mentor and internship supervisor, Velissa Vaughn, and her partner, Jayla Akers. Together, they run JxV Collective — the creative agency that handled PR and talent for the event. Velissa is an LIM alumna and recent recipient of the Shining Star Award at commencement, and working alongside her has been one of the most valuable experiences of my college career. 

Walking through the doors, the space was electric. I immediately felt the vibrance and creative energy in the room. Guests were dressed in show-stopping looks, and the most vintage luxury pieces I’d ever seen in one place. The DJ dressed in gold, set the tone with the perfect soundtrack perched on top of a Louis Vuitton monogramed trunk.

I spent the evening meeting and photographing the event, helping Velissa with logistics, and preparing for the arrival of Law Roach. The room was filled with fashion icons and creatives. I photographed Law Roach, Christian Siriano, Sonia Barbie Tucker, Love Island’s Chelly and Serena, the Kalogeras Sisters, Caroline Vazzara, and more. Being behind the camera gave me a unique perspective to both document and fully immerse myself in the experience. 

Law Roach was one of the first figures who inspired my love for fashion, and I’ve admired Christian Siriano ever since watching him on Project Runway. Meeting and photographing them both was surreal and an absolute highlight of my NYFW experience.  

Opportunities like this remind me why I chose LIM. Being able to participate in New York Fashion Week — not just as an attendee, but as a creative contributor — has helped me build my network, gain real-world experience, and grow as a photographer. This event was a moment I’ll never forget, and I’m so grateful for the chance to be part of it.
