On November 13, four Visual Studies majors from LIM College participated in the sixth annual Retail Design Institute “Iron Design” Challenge, held at Shaw Contract showroom in Manhattan. LIM senior Patrick Zavorskas was part of the winning team.

For this competition, more than 20 students from multiple colleges and universities—including FIT, Pratt, and Parsons—were divided into groups, each of which contained representatives from the various participating schools.

Their challenge was to design a 750 square-foot retail pop-up shop for Equinox in just an hour. The teams then presented their concept to a panel of judges, which included representatives from Equinox and WJCA Architecture. Each team had two industry mentors advising them.

The other LIM students who participated in the “Iron Design” Challenge were junior Nina Burns, junior Christopher Prine, and senior Stephanie De Nisco.

The Retail Design Institute is a community of creative professionals in the retail industry.
