What made you choose LIM for your college education?
As far back as I can remember, I’ve always been interested in fashion and how vibrant and fun the industry is. I knew from childhood that living in the city and being surrounded by creativity was for me. LIM stood out because I loved how caring and dedicated the faculty was when I visited the campus for the first time and applied as a transfer student. I also love that the college is for the business of fashion and well known for its drive to have students learn within the fashion industry.

What was the transferring process like?
Transferring to LIM was seamless. I took advantage of the articulation pathway that LIM has with Westchester Community College, where I got my associate degree in fashion merchandising. All of my credits transferred, and the Admissions Counselors at LIM are some of the greatest out there. I felt so supported throughout the process and knew from the jump that this school was the place for me.

What has your time at LIM been like?
These have been some of the most exciting moments of my life. Since starting at LIM, I've been able to volunteer for New York Fashion Week twice, work at Macy’s on 34th street, join clubs like the Film Club and Retailing Club, attend the NRF Big Show, begin my internship at Icer Brands, and more! I came in with little industry experience beyond retail, but now I feel like I have gained a lot of insights within the fashion industry.

What do you like most about your major?
I love that my major is creative but also strategy based. I have completed many cool assignments, such as creating my own clothing line, mood boards, assortment plans, and comparative presentations for stores. This balance is very interesting and keeps me on my toes. I also love being able to tap into the data as well as follow my own intuition. Trend forecasting, consumer behavior, and the concepts of merchandising are all very exciting topics to me.

What are some of the benefits of going to school in New York City?
Going to school in NYC is the absolute best. Not only are you getting a college experience unlike any other, but you're also gaining so much life experience. I've grown so much as a person upon moving here and have connected with people who will be friends for life. The locations of LIM’s buildings are ideal for access to the industry. Plus, after class I love to take a stroll in Central Park or go sit in Bryant Park with a coffee. Midtown New York is in the middle of everything.

Anything else you'd like to share?
Just that choosing LIM is by far the best decision I've made. I have done so much, met incredible people, learned from very talented professors, received advice from industry mentors, gained confidence in myself, and gotten immense support from others. I truly feel that I belong here and am looking forward to the rest of my journey at the college!
