August Events

8:00 a.m. 

This is an opportunity for new international students to meet each other and connect with others in the LIM community. LIM staff and International Student Orientation Leaders will facilitate a series of what-if scenarios and group discussions, and brainstorm activities to bring international and domestic students together throughout the academic year.

8:00 p.m. 

This is an opportunity for new transfer students beginning their degree programs in Fall 2023 to meet each other, as well as become familiar with the Transfer Student Experience program facilitated through the Office of Student Life.

8:00 a.m. 

An opportunity for new graduate students to meet each other and become familiar with their faculty members and their Academic Advisor. We'll also explore all the resources available to master's students at LIM.

8:00 - 9:00 p.m. 

Get a sneak peek into your first semester! Discover the classes you'll take, experiences that await you, and some important dates to look forward to. This session will be led by Nancy Miller, Dean of Undergraduate Studies, and will include a Q&A.

This is an opportunity for new online students to meet each other, get updates about the start of the academic year and have a chance to win some LIM swag! You can chat with our Vice President of Online Learning as well as staff in the Offices of Student Life and Learning Innovation.

10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. 

Maxwell Hall

This is an opportunity for students and families to visit LIM College during the summer months. Think of it as an "early" New Student Orientation where you can experience our NYC campus, register for classes in-person, tour the residence hall, learn about commuting, and more!

Check-in begins at 1:45 p.m. 

All new international students are invited and encouraged to attend.  You’ll learn about the International Student Experience at LIM, meet other incoming international and exchange students, and gain knowledge about how to make the most of your experience here. We will have an optional outing in the city directly after the international orientation program.

Maxwell Hall Student Center 

Check-in begins at 9:00 a.m. 

All new graduate students are invited and encouraged to attend Graduate Orientation on August 30 and the Graduate Orientation Residency on August 31. You’ll meet other incoming students, as well as LIM College faculty and staff. You’ll learn how to utilize College resources to be academically and socially successful while completing your graduate degree at LIM College. Lunch is provided on both days!

Please note: If you are an international graduate students, you will be staying for the afternoon International Student Orientation program for August 30. So, please register for both!

New York City Bar Association 

Check-in begins at 9:00 a.m.   

Program concludes at 5:00 p.m. (followed by the NSO Boat Cruise, Dinner, and Dance Party) 

New Student Orientation is a full-day program, starting at the NYC Bar Association, a short walk from LIM’s campus. All new in-person undergraduates are required to attend. Online students are invited to attend as well. 

Participating in orientation is crucial for a successful start and transition to college.  You’ll learn about College resources and support. You’ll learn how to be prepared for the start of classes and tips to be academically successful. You’ll also hear about our student clubs and organizations, as well as our NSO City Exploration programs and a fun-filled series we call ‘Weeks of Welcome’. 

An optional breakfast is provided at two locations to start the day, at 8:15 a.m. Students living at FOUND Study - Midtown East can enjoy a continental breakfast with their families in the residence hall on the Mezzanine Level. New commuter students and their families can enjoy a continental breakfast at the 5th Avenue Building’s FashionOpolis space.

New York City Bar Association

Program concludes at 12 noon. 

For parents and family members of incoming students, this program runs concurrently with but separate from the student program. Here, we will provide information and resources to assist you in supporting your student through their transition to the College, so they are both academically and socially successful. 

An optional breakfast is provided at two locations to start the day beginning at 8:15 a.m. Parents and families of students living at FOUND Study - Midtown East can enjoy a continental breakfast in the residence hall on the Mezzanine Level. Parents and families of new commuter students can enjoy a continental breakfast at the 5th Avenue Building’s FashionOpolis space.

Check-in starts at 9:45 a.m.

This event is a special "deep dive" into the graduate student experience at LIM. Students will be grouped based on their program and then participate in two separate 90-minute sessions: The first is a Career and Internship Services "bootcamp"; the second will be a tutorial on the Graduate Canvas portal, library resources, anti-plagiarism, and presentation best practices.

Then there's a pizza lunch at 1:15 p.m.!

Boarding at 6:30 p.m. – Chelsea Piers, Pier 61 

Cruise departs at 7:00 p.m. and returns at 10:00 p.m. 

ALL new students (undergraduate, transfer, online, and graduate) are invited to attend the annual New Student Orientation Boat Cruise, Dinner, and Dance Party. It’s an amazing way to get introduced to this spectacular city, seeing it from the water with hundreds of your new college friends and peers! This event is FREE for all incoming students. Registration required. 

Shuttles will provided from LIM College Maxwell Hall and FOUND Study - Midtown East.
