Coronavirus Update

March 10, 2020

Dear LIM Community,

The safety, well-being and health of our students, faculty, and staff is our primary concern. As you are aware, the College has been closely monitoring the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). Although there are several confirmed cases in New York, there remain no confirmed cases at LIM College. The College continues to work with health authorities, as well as the entire LIM community, to ensure continued monitoring and proactivity.

As a measure of being abundantly cautious and minimizing risk within the community, LIM will implement the following:

Beginning Wednesday, March 11 through Friday, March 13, all face-to-face classes will be taught remotely – online and/or electronically. Each instructor should be contacting their students to discuss class expectations. All students will be required to continue with satisfactory participation and submission of assignments. After Spring Break (March 16-20), we will continue to hold classes and operate remotely during the week of March 23 – March 27.

Effective immediately through March 28, 2020, all nonessential events will be cancelled or postponed. All faculty, staff, advisors, and student leaders within any club/organization must receive clearance from the appropriate Department Head prior to hosting or rescheduling an event/gathering.

The entire College will be working remotely March 11 – March 13, 2020 and business operations will continue uninterrupted. Administrators, faculty, and staff are expected to continue servicing students, consistent with the institution’s Core Value of Student Focus.

As is typical, the residence hall will remain open during Spring Break.

However, effective Friday, March 13, LIM student residents will NOT be permitted to sign in guests. This policy will be in effect until further notice, and applies to both daytime and overnight guests.

The LIM community is encouraged to continue viewing our website for up-to-date information concerning COVID-19. Additionally, if you have not signed up for the Emergency Notification System, you can do so by clicking here: www.limcollege.edu/ENS. Important updates concerning classes and operations will be sent through this system. All students, faculty, and staff should also check their LIM College email for updates and important information.

As a reminder, LIM College’s Spring Break will occur Monday, March 16 – Friday, March 20, as scheduled. During Spring Break, the College will be closed and will reopen on Monday, March 23, with classes and operations being conducted remotely. Rather than reconvening on campus to commence in-person classes on March 23, we will continue to hold classes remotely during the week of March 23 – March 27. Early during the week of March 23, the College will communicate if, and for how much longer, we will continue to hold classes remotely. Under any circumstances, classes will be held through the end of the semester to ensure the progress and academic continuity of our students.

LIM is committed to the entire campus community, inclusive of the families and loved ones of our student body. Although classes and administrative and business operations will be conducted remotely on a temporary basis, we will continue to support the academic mission of the institution.

We realize that this communication may not answer every question. Please continue viewing the website for further information. We will update it as new information becomes available. Additionally, we will be sending detailed communications to your LIM email.

Finally, we would like to express our gratitude to those who have worked so hard to make LIM ready to take these steps, as well as for the patience, resiliency, and commitment of the LIM community in responding to the situation and these changes.
