Intro Title
Starting the semester with new programs, new student housing, a refreshed brand, and a broader outlook.

LIM College is starting the academic year with innovative new degree programs, new centrally-located student housing, a refreshed brand position, and a broad outlook for graduates’ futures.

This fall, LIM College is expanding both its on-campus and online program offerings, including enrolling students in the nation’s first Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and Master of Professional Studies (MPS) degrees in The Business of Cannabis. A Master of Science (MS) degree in Consumer Analytics will also debut.

Says LIM College President Elizabeth S. Marcuse, “Our growing list of forward-looking degree programs demonstrates LIM College has the flexibility to anticipate industry needs, develop responsive academic experiences, and connect graduates with nascent career opportunities.”

Some existing programs that were previously available exclusively on campus, such as the Bachelor of Science (BS) in Fashion Media and MPS in Global Fashion Supply Chain Management, will now also be available in a fully online format. Additionally, students in all on-campus programs will be able to take advantage of flexible hybrid course delivery options.

A Tradition of Launching Dream Careers via Learning by Doing

Over the past nine decades, LIM has launched over 10,000 alumni into careers in the business of fashion and beyond.

Graduates are prepared for success through an immersive approach grounded in a philosophy of learning by doing. In both on-campus and online programs, students gain real-world experience and build professional skills via courses taught by industry-expert faculty, required internships with top companies, collaborative industry projects, and ongoing networking and recruiting events.

“For nearly a century, LIM College has launched dream careers from our home in New York City,” observes President Marcuse.

“No other educational institution offers our unique focus on the intersections of business, fashion, and lifestyle. As we begin the 2022-2023 academic year, we are doubling down on our commitment to provide students with the education, experience, and connections to become leaders in the trillion-dollar global fashion and lifestyle business.”

Most recently, the Class of 2021 boasted a Career Outcomes rate of 95% within six months of graduation, with 98% of internship employers describing LIM students as “career-ready” in a recent survey.

A Broader Perspective: Fashion & Lifestyle

To reflect the College’s expanded academic offerings, as well as the fact that many alumni hold leading positions in the business of fashion or fields that align with and extend well beyond it, LIM undertook an initiative over the past year to refresh and recenter its brand.

This effort included the adoption of a new tagline, “The Business of Fashion & Lifestyle” to better reflect the College’s academic offerings and current trajectory.

According to Provost Lisa Springer, Ed.D., “LIM College is leveraging our 83-year tradition of excellence in business education to build bridges to future career opportunities for our students and graduates.”

“Lifestyle is an aggregate term that refers to fields which shape and define consumer culture. The ‘fashion and lifestyle industry’ is comprised of many interconnected and related areas, including entertainment, sports, cannabis, beauty and wellness, travel and leisure, and more.”

“Yet even as we continue to continue to expand our academic offerings, the business of fashion will remain essential to LIM College’s mission and identity,” notes Dr. Springer.

Campus Updates

A more centralized campus footprint in midtown Manhattan is also a key piece of the College’s evolution.

Over the past week, over 250 students moved into brand-new student housing at FOUND Study – Midtown East. This modern student residence is in the heart of Manhattan at Lexington Avenue and East 51st St., a short walk from LIM’s academic buildings at 216 East 45th Street (Maxwell Hall) and 545 Fifth Avenue (Fifth Avenue).

FOUND Study features double rooms with private bathrooms, some of which have kitchenettes, as well as a fitness center, 24-hour security, laundry facilities on each floor, and many other attractive co-living amenities.

Upgrades to LIM’s Maxwell Hall space were also completed this year, including bringing key student services—such as financial aid, academic advising, career and internship services, and counseling—under one roof to better serve students.

Concluded President Marcuse, “Our programs, location, faculty, and graduates are all working together to make an LIM education more desirable and relevant than ever. LIM College is truly a place where dream careers can begin to come true.”
