Over the years, I’ve worked in fashion, wine and spirits, television, medical communications, and now the pharmaceutical field. That last one is still most surprising to me. You may be thinking, “Hold it. How did she get from A to Z?” The answer isn’t as complex as it seems. LIM provides you with tools to succeed in any area of business—and that “business” can exist in any field, if you know how to apply what you’ve learned.
An international graduate alumna writes about her career journey, from starting off on the creative side of fashion to discovering the intriguing world of licensing, the field in which she now works at Isaac Morris Ltd.
Fashion is often celebrated for its artistry and cultural influence. It is a global enterprise with a vast and intricate web that connects design studios in Paris, mills in Italy, and factories in Bangladesh, to boutiques and e-commerce platforms around the world. This inter-connectedness, while innovating and managing fashion cycle efficiency, is also exposed to the shifting dynamics of international trade. Among the most significant of these forces are tariffs, quiet but powerful instruments that ripple across every stage of the fashion cycle—from concept to consumer.
Having earned her BBA in Fashion Merchandising from LIM in 2008, Kristina Chu DeJesus now works as Associate Director of Product Development for Anne Klein Footwear. Here, she talks about the academic learnings and industry experiences that were part of her college journey, and which led her to where she is today in her career.
