LIM Joins UN Corporate Sustainability Initiative
September 17, 2018
LIM College recently joined the United Nations Global Compact's Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) initiative. PRME is a voluntary initiative that engages business and management schools to ensure they provide future leaders with the skills needed to balance economic and sustainability goals.
By signing on to the PRME, LIM commits to helping achieve the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through management education, instilling a culture of corporate responsibility and training drivers of change within the industry. The UN's SDGs include—among many other goals—reducing global waste, keeping the oceans clean, promoting clean and affordable energy, and educating young people about climate change.
LIM is an active force leading the charge for increased sustainability in mainstream fashion. In May, the College teamed with Fashiondex to hold a sustainability summit, where fashion companies came to campus to discuss and promote environmental best practices such as supply chain transparency, green chemistry, and zero waste design.
LIM's Center for Graduate Studies also plans to launch a new speaker series—Sustainably Speaking—in October 2018.
