Jacqueline Bonsignore

Associate Director of International Admissions

Jacqueline Bonsignore

Areas Covered: The entire world

Hometown: Long Island, NY (Northport High School)

What’s your favorite part of being an Admissions Counselor?
Interacting with international students on a daily basis and recruiting in other countries. This position has opened my eyes to new ways of thinking and taught me so much about the world.

Have you attended school outside of the U.S.?
I spent a year studying Italian language at La Universita Per Stanieri Di Perugia in Perugia, Italy.

When you were applying to colleges, what were you most worried about?
Rejection. It’s scary to put yourself out there, but change only begins at the end of your comfort zone.

Advice for applicants:
For the interview, channel your nerves into excitement. The interview is my favorite part of the application process and I look forward to meeting you!

What’s your favorite place to eat in NYC?
Eataly is one of my favorite places to grab a bite or buy some authentic Italian kitchen staples. It reminds me of my years living in Perugia.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
I would love to visit Japan during cherry blossom season. Watch the time-lapse videos on YouTube of blossoming trees in Tokyo, Kyoto, and around Mt. Fuji and then you’ll understand why I want to go!

Hometown: Staten Island, NY (Moore Catholic High School)

What was your college experience like?
I started at the College of Staten Island and ultimately ended up transferring to LIM College, where I received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Fashion Merchandising. What I liked best about LIM were the small class sizes, the internship program, and its location in midtown Manhattan.

What do you like most about being an Admissions Counselor?
It’s like having a second family. I love interacting with students and sharing my experiences with them, as I was once in their shoes.

Advice for applicants:
Remain positive. The application process is definitely a nerve-wracking experience, but if you remain positive and stay connected with your Admissions Counselor, everything should work out in the end.

Last show you binge-watched?
I always start new shows and never finish them. I’m now binge-watching Friends for the 7th time. (Thank you, Netflix for keeping it another year.)

Name one thing that makes you happy.
I have a 1-year old Golden Doodle named Charlie (yes, Charlie Brown). He’s a ball of energy and if I have a bad day, I know he’s there to cheer me up.

What do you like most about LIM College?

What’s the best part of being an Admissions Counselor?
I love being able to connect with prospective students, learn about their goals and dreams, and then be there to help them work towards achieving those goals.

Advice for applicants:
In your essay, don’t be afraid to share your hopes and dreams. Be vulnerable when you write it and allow yourself to be seen on the page.

Justin Jaikissoon

Admissions Counselor

Justin Jaikissoon

Areas Covered: First-Year Students: Mid-Atlantic (DC, MD, VA, WV). Transfer Students: Mid-Atlantic (DC, MD, VA, WV), New England (CT, MA, NH, VT, RI, and ME), and NJ (all regions).

Hometown: New York, NY (Saint George’s School)

What do you like most about LIM College?
I love that it gives students the opportunity to pursue their passion for fashion, while tying that with the business component of their degree. This gives students the skills to work in a retail or corporate setting for their favorite company, and it also gives them the tools to start and run their own company, if that’s what they want to do.

When you were applying to colleges, what were you most worried about?
Not feeling at home, because every school has a different vibe and environment. So, I made sure that I went on campus to visit the schools that I really liked, and got to meet students and faculty too. I ended up feeling much better about the schools I was applying to and knew which ones I would be happy to call my home for four years.

What are you listening to right now?
Any song that has Khalid in it. He’s awesome!

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Dubai. Everyone I know that has visited always has great things to say. I want to see what the hype is about!

Savita Pandya

Where did you go to college?
I attended Syracuse University for my bachelor’s degree, studying Communication Sciences and Disorders, then I pursued a Master of Professional Studies degree in Fashion Marketing at LIM.

What did you like most about LIM?
The sense of community. The fashion industry can sometimes feel cutthroat and highly competitive, but LIM helps people find their place. With all the opportunities and resources students have access to, and the faculty and staff who are so willing to help students get their careers off the ground, this community not only grounds you in your goals, but also helps you attain them.

Helping students with their college search. I love connecting with students and providing guidance on picking a major, or shedding light on the types of careers they can have. My goal is to help students find the right fit.

Last show you binge-watched?
Outlander. SO GOOD. Now what do I do with myself?

Who is your style inspiration?
Low key, our students! But also, Vanessa Hudgens.

Kara Schilder

Kara Schilder

Areas Covered: First-Year Students: Central and Southern NJ, PA, DE, OH. Transfer Students: PA, DE and Midwest (OH, IL, IN, IA, KS, MI, WI, MN, MO, NE, SD, ND).

Hometown: Philadelphia, PA (Upper Dublin High School)

Advice for applicants:
Follow your heart. The fashion industry can be tough, but LIM can help you create the life you’ve always wanted.
